  1. Wow ! This presentation is amazing! I love the use of graphics, it adds detail and really just makes it look super nice. This website is incredibly organized, and I really liked learning about Osamu Tezuka.

What is a fun fact about your person that some people might not know?

I think many people, including myself when I was still alive, don’t know that after I died, there was 900-page biography written about my life called The Osamu Tezuka Story. It was even written in manga form to commemorate my life of manga!

  2. Hello Mr. Tezuka,
I loved learning about your journey! It was very inspirational! I also thought your website was very aesthetically pleasing. One question I would have for you is, what was your favourite manga to create? Why? Thanks!

I think my favourite manga to create was Phoenix because it shows the value of life well. In fact, I loved it so much that I continued it until I died, so it doesn’t even have a proper ending. This just shows how short our lives are.

  3. Hi Mr. Tezuka! I love how organised your learning center was. I think it really showcased your personality as a cartoonist. I also loved your use of graphics, i think it really added to you presentation. One question I have is: Where did you get inspiration for your characters?

I think I got most of my inspiration from other works like Disney’s, but I also took a lot of inspiration from observations in real life that I found interesting.

  4. It sounds like despite some challenges along the way. you never gave up. In your opinion has manga become an universal language? Why or why not?

    1. Thanks for the comment!

I think manga has come a long way since my time due to all the amazing manga artists in this world, and there is a fairly large community that is very passionate about manga. However, I think there is still much room to improve in the years to come, and I hope we can still continue to make progress at the rate we are going at.

  5. Hi Mr. Tezuka
I really enjoyed reading about the manga that you have created. I had no idea that Astro Boy came from Japan! I also liked how there were separate tabs for each subject.
My question is: Who or what inspired you to keep making manga throughout your life?
    Thanks, Matthias

    1. Thanks for the comment!

My early inspirations were definitely Walt Disney and Max Fleischer, but throughout the years I started to make manga just for the sake of entertaining my fans and everyone that read my manga. I also was inspired by other manga artists that I inspired who were creating their own amazing works. I figured that continuing to make manga was beneficial to everyone.

  6. Hi Mr. Tezuka! I really liked how informative your website was, it was very interesting. It was also cool how you showed that you don’t think you quite deserve your eminence. I was wondering if there was ever anyone you particularly looked up to throughout your career?

I have always looked up to Walt Disney and Max Fleischer, whose works I was exposed to when I was very young. I was deeply moved by these works and it was kind of my goal to be able to do what they were doing.

  7. Hi Mr. Tezuka, I liked how you used images to break up the text and make it easier to read. I also liked the modesty when it came to your eminence. A question I have is, what specifically did you dislike about Toei?

    1. Thanks for the comment!

I really hated the working environment and how Toei treated me. I had no control over the work that I did. For example, when I was working on Saiyuki, I was assigned to storyboard the film. They rushed me with deadlines and when I delivered my storyboard to them, they were severely dissatisfied just because my work didn’t suit their preferences of style. I was constantly bossed around and didn’t have any freedom to do the work that I liked.

  8. Hey Osamu! Thank you for sharing your life and work with us. I noted that you took inspiration from Disney and you had a lot of unique characters and designs; did you ever consider a theme park or the kind of branded space that other animation studios have? Would that have been something that interested you?

    1. Thanks for the comment!

I have considered the idea, and I have actually tried to make it work many times, but the plans always seemed to face challenges and I never was able to have a theme park built. Anyways, I felt that I wanted to focus more on my manga and animation work.
