Remote Learning – Reflection

My Thoughts on Remote Learning

With all this Quarantine happening right at the moment, working from home has been a new experience that I have never done before and the same with many others. I like working at home in my personal environment because I have all my school needs right here in front of me, but I can see this getting old after a while. Human interaction is one important aspect of school, and working at home eliminates that aspect. I think that remote learning comes with its pros and cons. One Pro that technology has benefitted with my learning is, every day I’m on my computer, and so when I implement this with school, computers just make school easier to manage, from very organized work that I ill never be able to lose, to the very easy way of handling work on Teams. Also at home, I have two monitors, so when I’m researching in social studies, I can have a document with my writing on one monitor and my textbooks on the other. on the other hand, one of the cons is, I felt throughout these past months of online learning, it has been hard to seek help from teachers. Sometimes I would write an email to them, they would respond a few hours later, which is inconvenient because I have set times for certain subjects. When they do respond, I feel that often the answer isn’t that detailed, and doesn’t give me all the information I need. Additionally, there are Core competencies. One core competency that helped me throughout remote learning is critical thinking. Critical thinking has helped me with all-around technology usage. for example, using specific programs and software or issues with hardware and wifi. Also, A Core competency that improved through quarantine is the socializing online. In the past few months, I’ve sent the most emails and messages through Teams that I’ve had ever sent. Hopefully, I may continue to utilize this skill through my years of school and beyond that. All in all, I really do like doing working at home, and the benefits remote learning gives me, like sleeping in and working in privacy.Hands-on-Keyboard-1 - UNC DIGITAL SERVICES
