digital literacy reflection

  • What are your thoughts on hybrid learning (in person and at home) compared to when you are in your learning groups (at school for all classes). Which format do you prefer, and why?

Both forms of education have benefits. However, I personally prefer hybrid. I enjoy having the responsibility of managing my own time as well as being in charge of the way I learn half of my classes. It allows me to enforce good time management strategies. I also get some of the morning/ afternoon off if I finish my work early. (I am slightly bias. I have only had experience with hybrid learning at a high school level.)

  • How has technology benefitted you during the hybrid learning experience?

Technology has benefitted me in the hybrid learning model by allowing me to meet with my teachers and fellow students online. This proved to be very helpful when we were in our cohorts and were unable to all meet in-person. It gave us a way to communicate and connect without being face to face. Technology has also allowed me to complete my assignments and projects online. This means I didn’t need to handwrite my work or print out my work to hand it in. This allowed me to be more efficient with my work precise with my work. Overall technology has had a positive impact on my hybrid learning model.

  • How has technology impeded you during the hybrid learning experience?

The main way technology has impeded me during my hybrid learning experience is by distracting me. I have a very short attention span, so I get distracted easily. This made me work less efficiently because I would constantly be getting distracted by my device when I meant to be working. Another way technology has impeded my work is through technical errors and glitches. Multiple times this year I have had trouble with my device not connecting to internet, not saving properly, and deleting my work. This made me spend time fixing my device that I could have spent working. I had a project that I had finished and spent a lot of time on and when I returned the document was blank. This made me have to redo all the work that I lost.

  • Is there anything that you hope remains a part of school that was new because of hybrid learning after the pandemic is over and school returns to normal?

I hope we continue to use teams. It is an effective way to communicate and share ideas with your peers and teachers. It also allows you to hand in documents virtually, so you don’t need to do it in-person.

  • Link to 2 Projects in school /TAONS that used digital technology and explain how the use of that digital technology enhanced your project.

This was my final summative display for In-Depth night. I used PowerPoint to create it. PowerPoint helped me to make a virtual art gallery to display my paintings and show my learning to my peers and other members of the TALONS community.

This is the learning center I made for eminent. Technology enhanced this project by allowing me to create an interactive website to display my learning. I was able to create multiple pages that were all interactive and engaging for the viewer. I was even able to add sound files in to further enhance the experience. You should check it out.
