In-Depth Final Blog Post
Hello and welcome to my in-depth! The topic I chose this year was Portrait photography. Here is a little background knowledge before you start. I have done photography before, but more on the plants and landscape side of it. I wanted to challenge myself and try portrait photography this year. As well as the kind of photography I did have as much experience with the different camera settings. Before this year, I would always have my camera on AV (Aperture focused). This year I learned how to use my camera in full manual mode and it really helped with my photos. Thank you Mr. Ross for being my mentor this year I have learned a lot and had a lot of fun!
Anyways, thank you for choosing to come to my In-depth project! Down below are two links. The first link is where I show my journey and what I have learned. The second link is a site I made that shows some of my best photos this year. I also added some of my plant photography I had taken on my own time. If you would like you can look at my older blog posts to see me grow on my journey!
Thanks again and feel free to ask any questions!

hi natalie!
your blog post is so well done and the pictures are beautiful! do you have a favorite type of pictures ( plants, animals, people etc.) to take?

My favourite would have to be plant photography, but I have really started to like portraits as well. Thank you for stopping by my In-Depth!! 🙂

Your explanations of the different camera settings and lighting were really well done! It was also really cool to see how those translated into your photos, my favourite was the one of your dog slumped on the floor.

Why do you enjoy taking plant photos the most (other than they do not move and talk back?)? Lots or learning and progress. What is next in terms of photography?
June 1, 2021 at 3:18 am
I personally like taking plant photos the most because I have had a lot of practice with it and I love the emotions I can portray out of it. Don’t get me wrong, I love other types of photography as well, but plant photography is my favourite. In terms of the next steps, I would love to keep practicing my portraits and maybe I can try it with multiple models. Also, I have always wanted to try wedding photography and I think that would be cool to try in the future!

Great photos!!!! I especially loved the different angles and poses that you took photos from (and also the dog ofc.)
And just to make sure, you got consent from your dog before taking pictures right????
Jokes aside, amazing job.

It was great working with you Natalie! It is fantastic to see your best work together in one gallery. I really like the shots of your sister, very nice portraits. I think you have learned a lot during this project, you are a great student. Whether or not you take any more photo classes, you now have the foundation for a life-long journey!

Thank you! I did that photo by using three different photos of Alex and putting them in photoshop. Then I erased the extra of the two photos behind the original photo and changed the opacity. It was pretty fun to do!!
