1. How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.
Posting something inappropriate or Illegal could the reason I get fired or lose an offer.
2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
- THINK Before posting.
- Use strong passwords: To keep your personal information private, create distinct, complicated passwords for each of your online accounts and update them frequently.
- Be careful what you post: Check that any material you put online is suitable and does not include private information about you or others. Remember to use the privacy controls on social networking sites to limit access to certain posts to those who need to see them.
3. If you could go back in time, is there anything that you would do differently online? Think of what advice you would pass on to your younger self or other students.
I would tell my younger self and other students to be more careful with the information they put online if I could travel back in time. It’s critical to keep in mind that everything placed online can be viewed by anybody with an internet connection in the modern world. Before posting anything, it’s important to consider the potential long-term effects on your reputation or professional prospects. Additionally, I would advise setting up two-factor authentication for additional security and being conscious of the privacy settings on social media accounts and websites.
