1. How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.
Leaving a negative digital footprint can have an impact on future jobs. If you post a picture of you doing something inappropriate, or write a hurtful message, future employers may think negatively of you. Alternatively, if you post positive or helpful things, such as fundraisers, kind and informative messages, people may think better of you.
2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
Don’t post unless you have something good to say, review the content you post to make sure it’s not potentially harmful to you or others, and never disclose personal information. Remember that no matter what you do, the post technically lives on forever and anything you may find embarrassing in the future may not be completely erased.
3. If you could go back in time, is there anything that you would do differently online? Think of what advice you would pass on to your younger self or other students.
I feel like I would comment and chat less on things public to the world (youtube, games, etc) to protect myself more from strangers.
