Core Competencies Quarter 1

  1. During Quarter 1, what went well for you? Examples: being back in the classroom, having only two courses, seeing my friends, keeping up with homework, playing volleyball, improving math, helping plan a virtual assembly, becoming more fit.
During Quarter 1 some things that went well for me were hardly ever forgetting my supplies, learning to hang out with my friends over calls, getting together with my class over non-required casual calls we plan as a group, and finding new ways to plan leadership events despite the pandemic.
  2. During Quarter 1, what did you find challenging or disappointing or stressful? Explain.
I’d say a challenge of quarter 1 some parts I found challenging would be going from Spanish class at school then bussing immediately home and still showing up late to an Humanities call when we had them. Additionally when we switched to doing blended block 1a I ended up being separated from my friends and only being with one I wasn’t super close with. A stressful part would probably be having lots of background assignments while I worked on other projects. Additionally we had less time and more to do on a project this year than we did last year.
  3. Think of ONE thing you really want to improve in Quarter 2 (and Q 3&4). Examples: a school subject, a sport, time spent on homework/studying, playing a musical instrument, leadership skills, a language, photography, a relationship, general fitness.
One thing I want to improve on for this upcoming quarter would be completing assignments closer to when they’re assigned rather than when they are due to make it easier on myself.
  4. What are two specific actions that you can start doing every day to get closer to your goal? How long will you spend on this action each day? What part of the day?
One specific action would be that on the day assignments are given at least start it and work at least an hour on it. I have the most time at nights so either work right after school or in the evening.
A second action I can start doing every day to get closer to my goal would be to find a way to display and update my tasks interchangeably instead having them listed on just one device so I can stay on top of my work better.
  5. If you experience challenges, what might you do to work through them? Examples: ask help from a friend or parent; break the task into smaller chunks; “google” how other people may deal with similar problems.
When I experience challenges the steps I tend to take to overcome them would be to divide the project and make each section due at different times so if I accomplish them I have a break between the tasks and don’t overstress and overwork myself. If that system doesn’t work my next decision is usually to get support, help, or ideas from the people around me whether that be my teacher or a classmate.
