My Legally Blonde Poster

The Legally Blonde poster was the final project assigned for my Graphic Arts 9 class. We were prompted to create a poster for the Legally Blonde production at Gleneagle. The poster was an optional assignment, and was offered as a chance to obtain bonus marks. This poster was a way for us to showcase the design principles that we had picked up over the course of the class.

Going into the assignment, I knew that I wanted to create a hand drawn image. I’m very thankful that my friend Mel allowed me to borrow her drawing tablet to work on the assignment. I already had quite a bit of experience with drawing and painting. In the past I have also tried out calligraphy, as I was developing an interest towards the craft. I have also used a drawing tablet before, but my experience using them is very limited. As this was the final project we received, I had already developed some skills from the class.

When taking on the assignment, I had to get used to adjusting the pressure I used when drawing on the tablet, as the pressure would dictate the thickness of the stroke. It was a bit hard to get used to the manipulation of pressure at first, but I gradually became more used to it. I also had some problems with layering, as I forgot to separate some of the parts in the poster. In turn, this caused some of the objects to be linked together, so an entire layer would be moved instead of just the desired segment.
