1. How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.

1. If you have a job interview, your interviewer will most likely ask you about and later check your digital footprint, which may change their decision to hire you.

2. If you become famous or acquire a high ranking position, it may be stripped if you have a negative digital footprint, even if it was a long time ago.

2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

1. Keep your account private, only allowing family and close friends to see it

2. Think through what you’re posting/sending, and whether or not you’ll regret it late (e.g. T.H.I.N.K., Grandmother rule, etc.)

3. If you get angry or if you’re having a bad day, just turn off your device and go do something else, before you say something you regret

3. If you could go back in time, is there anything you would do differently online? Think of what type of advice you would pass on to your younger self or other students. How could you go about explaining it to them?

I would not do anything differently online, because I have nearly no social media. The only thing I might do is download more to keep in contact with old friends. If I would talk to younger students, I would tell them to be very careful what they post because a negative digital footprint can cost them their dream job.
