Freeze Action:

Motion Blur:

Pan Blur:

Identified personal strengths or learning for the week?

A personal strength from this week was definitely nailing my camera’s settings when taking the individual pictures. While editing, I noticed how well my shots were composed which made editing a way easier job than it usually can be. Moreover, the final shots look less edited and manipulated which can sometimes show up if a lot of editing and manipulating is required.

What did you find most challenging about capturing a motion blur?

When taking pictures of Justin on the scooter, I found it difficult to keep him in focus while he rode past the camera. Although I changed the setting from One-Shot AF to Servo AF, following Justin’s movements was hard. Moreover, it was especially difficult due to the viewfinder’s blackout time in between the images since I am using a digital viewfinder.

If you had the chance, what would you like to try capturing with a pan blur? What would you do to make this photo shoot successful?

I think that it could be fun to capture an airplane taking off with a pan blur because it would be a challenge to capture an object moving at such high speeds. I could make this photoshoot successful if I practice the plan with other airplanes and following them to master the movements. Moreover, I could use a tripod to keep the camera still to remove that extra possibility of shakiness in the final product.

  1. Your pan blur is stunning! I love it….the foggy glasses…the snow…so good.
Great choice of shutter speed, and a very great composition.
Freeze action – hilarious! … and well done. Captured at just the right moment so you can’t tell if he is fake falling or not.
