In the first picture, I used the key light from the left side only, we can find the shadow on his face at this time. 
In the second picture, I added a fill light on the right side, it made his face much brighter. 
In the last picture, I added a back light behind him on the right. This soft light made him looked much better and more natural. On the downside, this light made the black cloth in the background too obvious.
