  1. Noah, this is a very engaging and informative learning centre. How did you first hear about your eminent person? What has this person taught you about yourself?

    1. Thank you, Ms. Mulder, for your compliments. I first learned of Harvey Russell when I saw the movie 12 Mighty Orphans. The film summarized Harvey’s time coaching at Fort Worth and the Mighty Mites. It was released in 2021 and caught my eye for its phenomenal story and historical facts. I also believe that I am captivated by his life because of the similarities we share, like our personalities and athletic passions. Through his story, I learned a lot about myself, especially when it comes to leadership. I have realized the good and the bad leadership practices I am applying in my life.

  2. Wow, that was a really great learning centre. You were able to include a lot of facts about his life, yet still be concise. It is evident that Harvey greatly impacted American football, do you personally play football?
I was also wondering how he ended up working in the orphanage and what do you think made him stay there?

    1. Thanks for your comment. Speaking about myself, I do not actually play football. Harvey ended up getting the job at the Fort Worth Masonic Home and School because his friend backed out of a teaching job at the orphanage. Seeing an opportunity to fulfill his pledge to God, Harvey took the job and tried his best to teach the kids discipline and teamwork through football.

  3. Cool story! I like how you added interactive links on the sides of your paragraphs. I think his story is really inspiring. How has Harvey inspired you? What has he taught you? In other words, what is your takeaway from his story?

    1. Thanks, Julianne for your feedback. I already received a similar question but I will still answer this one as well. I see Harvey as an example of what I want to become. Similar to a mentor and mentee relationship, his life story guides my decisions in my own life to choose the right path instead of the easy way out. Therefore, it affects my life in every decision that I make.

  4. Hey Noah,
Well done! It seems like Russell really knew how to inspire his players (and people, in general). Do you know if he was someone who gave pep talks? Was he a good speaker? How might this have inspired his teams?

    1. From what I know, Harvey was very outgoing and extroverted. He would likely have given lots of pep talks and been a good speaker on the football field. He would have given constructive criticism to help improve his players’ performances. As a result, they were inspired to continue playing and strive to do better.

  5. Hello Noah, I really like your learning centre. It was clean and had a great amount of info. What leadership skills that Harvey showed would be applicable in TALONS?

    1. Thank you so much for the compliments. Back to your question, the main skill that Harvey would apply to the TALONS Program would be his ability to lead a group through adversity. Especially since TALONS need to be able to keep their composure under pressure, like on Adventure Trips.

  6. Dear Mrs. Chambers,

Basing it off the moral ethics of Western society and the belief to better others above yourself, we can dictate which decisions are considered right.

    Noah

P.S. I could not reply to your comment directly for some apparent reason. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

  7. Hi,
“Harvey was a simple but outstanding man. No matter what challenges he faced, he always managed to do the right thing.”

How do we know what the right thing is?
    Mrs. Chambers

  8. Great job! I enjoyed following through the different parts of the site, and the pictures helped it look organized. They also provided a good reference. One question I have for you is about Harvey’s affect on you. What inspired you to choose him as your eminent person?

    1. Thanks Raghav for your insightful comments about the design of my website. I cherish all the feedback I can get. About your question, I see Harvey as an example of what I want to become. Similar to a mentor and mentee relationship. His life story guides my decisions in my own life to choose the right path instead of the easy way out. Therefore, affecting my life in every decision that I make. Secondly, I picked Harvey Russell as my eminent person because I want to emulate his leadership qualities. His ability to lead through adversity is something I find very valuable in this world.

  9. Hello Noah,
Amazing learning center! It was very well made and interesting. I especially loved your use of pictures and how you put the source under each one!
You talked about how Russell had very strong leadership skills, and that it what we work towards in TALONS. Do you think Russel would have attended a similar program, and how good of a fit would it be for him?

    1. Thank you so much for the positive compliments on my Learning Center. Answering your question, I believe that Harvey would have joined a program similar to TALONS due to his immense leadership skills and critical thinking. It’s also probable that he would have fit in well with the other students in the program.
