My reflection on remote learning
Time really goes by very quickly. We are already in 4th quarter, near the end of the school year!
This year have been a very different school year compared to others. Schools introducing new formats like hybrid learning and learning groups, to cope with COVID-19. We stayed in hybrid learning 3 times a week. We have to access TEAMS in order to do the schoolwork and assignments as we are not in school in person. Learning groups stayed the same as usual with everyone in class. I prefer the Learning group format rather than the hybrid learning, it feels normal being in class. And also I can work with classmates in school together. On the other hand, the hybrid learning format forced me to stay at home and work through my laptop.
There are both advantages and disadvantages with using technology for hybrid learning. The good side of it is I already know how to use Microsoft office apps like TEAMS, POWERPOINT AND ONENOTE. I often used them in Scott Creek Middle School. Using the OneNote for example, it is very organized with folders, so I can easily find the information I need.
On the disadvantages, sometimes working on laptop for a long time will lead to tiredness, especially my eyes. It will sometimes make me feel more tired than usual. It is also not convenient to ask questions through laptop, it’s always better when I ask a question in person, usually I get much clear information.
Personal awareness and responsibility helped me succeed during hybrid learning. This core competency helped me to be more independent. e.g. I am responsible for doing the works at home during “hybrid”.
One of the core competency that I improved is creative thinking. It’s because there are many assignments that I have to make opinions during hybrid learning.
That’s my thoughts on this year’s remote learning!
