Blog post #3: How to have a Beautiful mind chapters #4-5.

Welcome to my blog. For the second time hello. This blog post will be about the experience of the first two weeks of February; what I have learned and a simple reflection. For these two weeks again, I have recorded notes of each session went with my mentor. The notes were again, corresponded with the book “How to have a Beautiful Mind” by Edward de Bono. The two weeks were simple because we just started learning more deeply about the engine and so much more. I have included some pictures of what me and my mentor did do enjoy!

Progress Report. with a bit of mentor stuff.

For what I did for the last two weeks after the last blog post were simple. The first day we talked about the engine and why some parts are here and there. The second day he talked about the drawing part which I was very excited about, finally drawing parts of cars! The first day was simple I learned about they the chambers are at the front and why the transmitter isn’t too small. Simple ways saying the chamber is at the front because we want the car to react quickly when we press button or pull the lever to “A”. The transmitter is quite big because it is the one that controls and releases the energy developed in the chamber. It has a lot of spindle wheels that goes from biggest to smallest, many cars are different but that was how basic cars run. Another thing I learned is some electricity parts, for example the brake lights and the horn. I never knew the horn ran on electricity! But anyways after a little bit of physics class from my dad the 1 session of February was over. For this session I learned the theory of the engine, physics and being interesting which is the chapter of “How to have a Beautiful Mind” I am on. One this that I tried to do while I was with my mentor was, I was trying to be more interesting these were the ideas I kept in mind ; finding connections that linked minds, explore other persons interests, and using “what if”. Of course, I didn’t do all of them, but I still did some such as the first two. Because my mentor is my dad I though I wouldn’t find anything new to learn about him, but oh my I was wrong. In the session I have learned that we have similar leaning styles. It was a fun thing to learn because having physics 5 months ago and trying to read complex circuits were hard but because of him I understood fast and well. I also learned how my dad and I like drawing out models but can’t do it well, its like only we can understand but moving on to the next week. Second week of February. Honestly, I started off the session sad because it got kind of workie, it felt like science class reading different circuits everyday. But he started me off by asking me to draw an engine.  As you can scroll down a little bit it will be image one of two. My image I thought I drew it well after learning all the engine theory for a week. The way that it looks funky and how the engine is two times the size of the skeleton of the car I knew I was wrong. After I asked my mentor to draw one. I was surprised because he said that he never drew a car before while he was at work because he saw it everyday. But if you scroll down you will see the image (it’s the second one). That is when my third point came in “saying what if”. I asked all sorts of questions like “what if the oil was on the top?” and “why does the chambers go up to down and not down to up?”, he did eventually answer all the questions and I was happy of the responses I got. Anyways after a little bit of more physics the second session of February ended which was on a Sunday. I have left off the second session with a more visual mind of an engine and of course a better understanding of the functions of a basic car.

The Book.

This whole In-depth project will be based on the book called “How to have a Beautiful mind” by Edward De Bono. This book talks about all the different aspects of life and the mind to make understanding and working smoother. Each week I did chapters 4-5.

Chapter 4: interesting

In this chapter Bono talked about to be more interesting. He talked about bring up what if’s in conversations and connections. Summarizing he said that bring up odd topics and finding connections will allow the relationship to get stronger and smoother. Knowing other people and myself have odd traits in common makes me think that the person I am talking too is easy to be with, understanding what and who I am. One example that came up was like I said in the first document paragraph; I said that my mentor is my dad am I didn’t know if me and my dad will have anything in common. But trying to talk a bit more and working barriers out we both learning new traits from each other. One example is drawing, we both like to draw and understand models with our eyes but other people might not understand what we drew, like its telepathy!

Chapter 5: respond

In this chapter Edward talked about how to respond in different ways. He talked about different ways to respond in a way that it wouldn’t hurt other people feelings such as clarification, support, stories, and so much more. One responding idea that stuck onto my mind was to build upon, I know that it is easy to build upon and everyone does it. An example that came up on my second session was when my mentor said that having a organized drawing will make the mind less stressed up. I agreed to the statement because I am usually drawing with a lot of ideas in my head and doing it fast to get it all down, I said “ya like when I draw its so packed up in my mind but when I do a neater second copy it gets calmer”. I have added an idea to the statement that my mentor said.

thanks for coming, Cheers!
