investigate

I wander a little deeper into the forest and quickly realize the noise is sniffling; it’s only then I find a crying Anniya, I’ve never seen her like this, her regular determination has faded she’s just crumpled against a tree. “Anniya?” I try to keep my voice from trembling.

her head jerks up and she quickly wipes away the tears “I’m sorry.”

“no, no don’t be sorry we’re going to find him, ok?”

I could see the hope slowly fading her eyes but she responded with a weak nod. I help her to her feet “we should keep looking. you never know, right?” I say, looking at my watch and realizing that we haven’t seen David in over a day, but even though I know she’s thinking the same terrible eventualities i try to pretend like I know everything’s going to be okay.

from behind us I hear the whistle that we’d told Alex to only use if he was badly injured while looking for David. the fear in Anniya’s eyes gets much, much worse. if another person got hurt just to help us, we could never forgive ourselves.

should we…
a) keep looking for david, alex is older then us and much more farmiliar with this forest, he can find his way out, it’s david we should keep looking for.
b) go find alex, its not interally our fault that davids out here, we are the ones that draged alex ou here, if he’s hurt i would feel even more responible then if david was.
