1. How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.
My digital footprint can affect my future opportunities because it can build a profile of me and my behavior online.
For example: If you post something bad about something or someone, during a job interview they check your profile online; they might find your post and not hire you because of what you said.
Second example: you send a picture on Instagram that you think might be offensive to some people. After people you work with and socialize with find out about your post, they no longer will be your friend/coworker.
2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
Using a VPN to protect yourself from other people trying to steal your data.
Thinking before you post or share someone or everyone on the internet something that you might regret sharing because nothing comes off the internet after you post it.
don’t sign up for random things on the internet because it will stay with you forever.
Create a secure password for all your emails and have a backup recovery because your email could be potentially hacked if you don’t have a backup recovery and a secure password.
3. If you could go back in time, is there anything that you would do differently online? Think of what advice you would pass on to your younger self or other students.
If I could go back in time, I would tell myself and others to make a work/important email because switching and creating a new email is hard as you have already set up your youtube and everything that you linked to the email.
I would also tell them not to sign up for random things on the internet because they will never delete your data after you sign up.
