Safer Schools Together Reflection (January 2023)

1. What if the show was not Truth Be Told, but something else? Would it make a difference what Iliana posted?
It wouldn’t change a thing for me because it’s still the truth that she lied about hating cooking. She still lied to be the host of Truth Be Told and it’s a scummy thing to do. If the show was a cooking one, then she wouldn’t get the job because when it came out that she hated cooking, there would be a lot of backlash towards her thus getting her kicked from the position.
2. Is it important that Iliana represent herself truthfully online? Why or why not? Are there other situations where it wouldn’t matter if she represented herself untruthfully?
She represented herself untruthfully online because she really wanted the job and acted like she had no flaws. If she told the truth, then people would’ve questioned her and thought twice about choosing her for being the host of Truth Be Told. It would be important to tell the truth about you so people know what they’re voting for but because of that, the voters wouldn’t vote for her because of knowing her flaws.
3. Do you think social media has a positive influence on our lives? Why or why not?
I think that social media gives people a positive view on the world because it gives people dopamine for a short period of time. It gives people
the ability to look at the world in a different way how other people use it. For me, social media is an addicting place to waste time on and I’m trying to leave the circle but it’s hard. If you just waste your time on social media, then it’s a negative thing but if you use it when you have free time then it’s positive thing.
