    Hi,
This all seems very complex. How many of his achievements do you understand?
    Mrs. Chambers

None. Dirac’s work was heavily based in math and is regularly taught to university students. I would require a semester long course to gain a level of understanding where I’d be confident in my knowledge. Of course, I still tried my best to comprehend what I could, and I feel I have an understanding of some of the broad strokes, big ideas, and contemporary impacts of his work. Dirac was also a prolific publisher, rarely ceasing his output of multiple papers a year, so I unfortunately had to focus on his most principal contributions. Thus, proportionally, there’s still a large body of his work I haven’t even read about yet.

    Good evening,
I really enjoyed the format in which you presented it, as well as the Standard Syndicates teaching the lesson. You mentioned his upbringing in the learning centre. How would his upbringing affected his eminence?

Dirac developed a habit of not speaking most likely thanks to his father. He would punish Dirac if he didn’t speak French correctly, which is probably how he developed that quality of himself. This particular characteristic possibly helped more indirectly, as Dirac had no social life he was free to do as much work as he wanted. His schedule consisted of a full day’s work from Monday-Saturday, taking walks on Sundays, which reflects (and was made possibly by) his asocial behaviour most likely derived from his father. Dirac was also a notorious workaholic, probably cultivated by his disciplinarian/educator father, and spent most of his youth studying, as his parents rarely allowed visitors.

Dirac’s upbringing seems to have given rise to his tireless work ethic, something that helped greatly in making his discoveries and was shared by few contemporaries at the time.

    Hi Pavel,

I enjoyed the way we were taken through the timeline, and I liked how in-depth you went with the details of his personal life, like when you talked about his personality.

Who do you think are some prominent figures that have been heavily influenced by Dirac’s work?

    1. Pavel

Pretty much every generation of quantum and particle theorist has been greatly affected by Dirac’s work, the most notable of which would be Richard Feynman in my opinion. With Dirac’s quantum fields and electron equation, he had basically laid the foundation for a field of study called quantum electrodynamics. That’s the theory that would be picked up and refined by Feynman and others into one of the most accurate theories to date.

Dirac was also Feynman’s personal hero, which is a pretty cool side note.

Good evening Pavel, it seems like Paul Dirac is the kind of person that you would have to spend a lot more time researching to fully understand him. It is clear that you still appreciate his work, and put the effort into showing it. Good job!

    Hi Pavel,

Your method of presenting your Learning Centre was very creative! I loved the characters you created for it, and how you colour-coded some of the slides to match the character that was in charge of that section. I also really enjoyed the humour you threw in there, as it helped keep me engaged in reading through your learning centre, A question I have is that how would Paul Dirac feel about the advancements in the field of quantum science in the modern-day?

    Thanks,
    Dylan
