Digital Footprint Assignment

  1. How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least 2 examples

Depending on the type of digital footprint you leave, it could have a negative or positive affect on future opportunities. As an example, say you’re applying for a job, and you posted something offensive on any social media platform in the past, it’s permanently there, meaning that your employer will most likely see the post and have an immediate impression of you which may cost you the job. If you’re constantly posting positive messages, and you’re communicating in a calm and collective way online, it may have a positive effect on your employer boosting your chances of getting a job, or getting into/staying in a university.

2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

  1. Think before you post
  2. Put yourself in someone else’s shoes
  3. Be kind and courteous

3. If you could go back in time, is there anything you would do differently online? Think of what type of advice you would pass on to your younger self or other students. How could you go about explaining it to them?

If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t really do anything differently online, although a piece of advice that I would give my younger self is to not give into peer pressure. Not to do everything because someone else wants me to do it, but because I’m driven and willing to something.
