Welcome to my virtual in-depth presentation! My name is Grace Zhang, and I am a grade 9 TALONS student. Over the past few months, I have been pursuing the idea of creating a small business intended to gain and practice critical entrepreneurial skills while supporting a worthwhile cause. You learned so much from your mentor, Sharon. Where is this business going to take you next?
May 26, 2020 at 2:21 am
Yes, I really appreciate everything Sharon has done for me! I hope to sell my products in entrepreneur fairs and events after social distancing measures are released and continue to fundraise for worthwhile charities!

Love this small business idea! What inspired you to make this specific product to sell?
May 26, 2020 at 2:34 am
Thank you! I was encouraged by my mentor to create a product that was different from others available in the marketplace, and I thought this was a creative twist on traditional stuffed animals.

Wow! Great job, Grace! I hope that you continue your journey as an entrepreneur! ly~

Hi Grace,
Where do you get your inspiration for your creations? They are so adorable! I am also wondering how you choose what charities to support?
May 26, 2020 at 2:45 am
Hi Ms. Chambers!
Thank you for stopping by! My creations were inspired by plush items I made for a school entrepreneur fair three years ago. I improved upon the design and showed them to my mentor to ask for her insight. To answer your second question, I chose to support the BC Children’s hospital because I was inspired by my mentor, who was also donating a percentage of her profit to this cause. However, I hope to donate to other charities too in the future!

Hey Grace! I love how cute your stuffies are!
What would you say was the biggest challenge for you throughout this whole project? How were you able to overcome it?
May 26, 2020 at 4:02 am
Thank you! I’m glad you like them! The biggest challenge (apart from social distancing) was finding the best solution for shipping my products, since fees can be extremely expensive! I adapted by creating smaller sizes and integrating some of the shipping costs into the product itself to prevent this factor from discouraging customers.

This is so cute Grace! Is business one of your career options for the future? Great work!

Thank you Makenzie! It’s definitely something I see myself pursuing on the side, but I think that I would like to just keep it as a hobby for the time being.
